Best News I’ve Heard in Months
So if you haven’t heard I had a little fever scare two weeks ago that warranted a visit to the ER. While I was there they gave me a CT to check for kidney stones.
Today I spoke with my oncologist and he said that the CT showed that the tumor in my lymph node is almost nonexistent. He said we’re going to continue with the last two rounds for good measure, but its a really great sign. The best news I’ve heard since this all began. The prayers are working! KILLIN CANCER!!!!
Boston
Boston is now one of my favorite cities. Big thanks to my Aunt Char and Uncle Joe for their hospitality and amazing tour of the city’s history, sights, and food. Whales, Patriots, Lobsta, and much more. We can’t wait to go back again. Round 3 starts up tomorrow. Not excited, but a good vacation can help clear the head. Check out some of the clips and pics.
Little Scare
On Thursday of last week Kathy and I had to take a little trip to the emergency at 1:30 in the morning. I was running a 100.5 fever and thats is a no go with someone on chemo. So after chest Xray, CT scan, and a lot of blood draws I was released. Seems Tylenol was the magic cure. Still no word on the cause of infection. I was given antibiotics. all is well now.
Kathy and I leave for Boston in 5 days. Visiting freedom trail, Lexington and Concord, Glouster, the north end, whale watching, and much more. Super hyped.
4th of July
This is a little after the fact but I wanted to let everyone know what was going on. 4th of July was interesting. I still had chemo, but in the hospital. Let me tell you that they take all the precautions in the hospital. Everytime the nurse came near me she had to get in full gown, gloves, and face mask. I felt like I was the “Bubble Boy” from Seinfeld. Let me tell you that I could not wait to get out of there. 4th of July night was nice. Dad brought the fixins and Donny BBQ the whole mix. Thanks for everyone who emailed or visited during round two. I have video of the fireworks with my family on the deck. Not a bad place.
Round two down. Good news: White and Red blood cells are regulating. Had a white blood cell booster shot that has knocked me on my rear, but all for the better. Boston in 9 days.
Things I’ve learned from round 2.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet many people along this journey. One of the most amazing things I see is the determination, faith, and candor that are in some of these cancer surviors. Some of these people have been told that they only have months to live, but still fight for every breath and go about there day as everything is fine. Attitude is everything in this game. That in itself is a lesson that we can all learn from.
