The Cycle

So now that round 1 of chemo is over I’ve discovered that you have to figure out your cycle. More about that in a second.

I’ve had many questions from a variety of different people about chemo therapy. So I found this video that does a good job of explaining how chemo works. School’s in session.

Back to the cycle. So as these cells die you start to feel the effects. Nausea, hair loss, etc. Many patients experience cycles based on their bone marrow reproduction. Bone marrow reproduces throughout the day and help produce blood. Doctors chart this through weekly blood tests. These results can help you predict the cycles in the day that you’ll feel weak or tired.

I have my most energy in the morning. So thats when I exercise. As the day goes on I get more tired and I’m usually crashing around 8-10. The fatigue feels a lot like mono. This is due to the fact that oxygen carrying red blood cells have diminished. I have experienced slight numbing in my fingers and along with some ringing in ears. This is due to the chemo affecting nerve endings. This is supposed to be temporary. Lets hope so.

Hope this sheds some light on the whole process. Thanks for all of you guy’s support.
